Understanding Medicare
Medicare Parts A & B: The Foundation
Medicare comes in two main parts: Part A covers inpatient care like hospital stays and skilled nursing facility care. It also covers some home healthcare needs and hospice care. Part B focuses on outpatient services like doctor visits, preventive care, and some medical supplies. While Parts A & B provide a solid foundation, there may be out-of-pocket costs. That’s where additional options like Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans come in.
Eligibility
Reaching 65 is a key milestone, and Medicare eligibility often follows. To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident for at least five years or younger than 65 with a qualifying disability or end-stage renal disease. If you’re unsure about your eligibility, we can help you navigate the process.
When to Enroll
Enrolling in Medicare on time is crucial. If you’re not receiving Social Security benefits, you must enroll actively during a specific period. We can guide you through the steps, whether it’s calling Social Security, applying online, or visiting your local office. You’ll likely be automatically enrolled in Parts A & B if you receive Social Security benefits already.
